About

Each of us has the potential to use our influence to shape the world around us.

“I grew up on a farm in Washington State with no running water, no electricity – but plenty of grit.

In my family, if you did something brilliant, brave, or worthwhile, you were rewarded with a small action - a red plate at dinner. Of course, I always wanted the red plate. This family custom taught me a powerful lesson – small actions can have a big impact.

I went on to become the first in my family to go to university, then started my career at Accenture, delivering global transformation programmes. When I moved to the UK, I led the firm’s leadership, inclusion, and diversity strategy, winning top honours for race, gender, sexual orientation, parenting, and disability.

As my understanding and insight developed, I came to a fundamental truth: inclusion doesn’t just happen. It requires strategic planning and sustained action. Yet despite a lot of activity in this space, many still struggle to deliver meaningful change.

Motivated by this, I founded The Red Plate in 2015, an advisory firm that has delivered hundreds of culture and inclusion projects. I also served seven years as a Non-Executive Director at the Home Office and Department for Education, providing both advice and challenge to executives and ministers.

Today I work with senior leaders across public, private and third sectors to drive lasting change. Alongside several board advisory roles, I am Chair of the Women’s Sport Trust as well as Wimbledon Beach Volleyball Club, which I founded in 2018.

Outside work, rain or shine, you'll find me with my feet in the sand, coaching, training or playing beach volleyball. I also love cooking, the great outdoors, and spending time with my husband and two daughters. I’m happiest when on a mountain trail, in the kitchen testing flavours, or curled up on the sofa with a book.”
